Syracuse -1 5.5** ncaaf pod
Syracuse and Pittsburgh comes off a bye this week, but Syracuse is 6-1 ATS in their last 7 off byes.  Both teams are carrying similar offenses as far as production goes with 480+ yards a game.  Syracuse has had the more challenging schedule facing Northwestern, USC, and Minnesota while Pitt has faced Cinci, and Virginia Tech + 2 FCS foes.  Syracuse has really clicked at home in the Carrier Dome should be rocking for this Big East rivalry before both teams head to the ACC next year.

While both offenses are similar in production, Pitt has an advantage running the ball and Syracuse via the pass.  It’s all about which team can be more balanced and have success and to me there is no question that’s Syracuse.  Pitt is 54th in passing yards allowed and haven’t faced an offense that can pass like Syracuse and they are just 69th in sack % while getting Aaron McDonald back will help I don’t know what they can do against the run because they are ranked 113th allowing 5.6 ypc.

Syracuse on the other hand has had a lot of success against the run particularly at home where they only allow 3.1 ypc, and were 28th overall last year.  They have a solid fast group of athletic linebackers that helps them with that and if Pitt turns to the pass they have one of the worst offensive lines that will show up again tonight.  Pitt is 109th in sack % allowed and it gets worse on the road with a nearly 14% sack percentage which can’t get any better in a dome.  Syracuse is great ranked 15th in sack % and at home are deadly with a 13.51 sack %.  When it comes to third downs Syracuse has been better on both sides most notably on offense ranked 27th while Pitt is ranked 76th.  Syracuse is converting 60% on third down at home and faced Northwestern 5-0 and USC here.
